Cooperstown Tournament Team
In 2002, Bob Sauders started the great tradition of taking a team to Cooperstown Dreams Park each year, it is an awesome experience for players and their families... Coach Bob was the leader of our 12u1 Indians program for 37 years (from 1988 thru 2024) and recently retired from that position. He was a huge part of Mountville Baseball and the local community; we are thankful for his dedication, we wish him and his wife Debbie the best as they spend more time with friends and family!
The 12u1 Indians team will continue to use the Indians' name in honor of their awesome history and everything that Coach Bob helped build over the 37 years that he volunteered at MYAA.
Moving forward, (starting with the Spring 2025 season) 12u1 Indians players may participate on a "tournament/club" team (such as CGA, Bombers, Elite, Storm, etc) if they choose to do so (while also playing on the 12u1 Indians team).
Mountville Baseball will still continue with the great tradition of sending a team to Cooperstown! Now, every 12u family will be able to express their interest in having their player evaluated to join the Cooperstown team. A consent form will be distributed to every 12u family in January and consenting players will be evaluated during our standard Spring Travel Player Evaluation process.
Our Cooperstown team will be open to any 12u eligible player (section 1, 2, or 3). We will utilize the Spring Travel Player Evaluation process (in late January) to identify the players that will be selected to fill the Cooperstown team roster (based on hitting ability, fielding skills, baseball IQ, previous experience, team positional needs, etc). Allowing all Mountville 12u eligible players to be evaluated for the Cooperstown team is a big opportunity and hopefully motivates all of our 12u players!
The cost for Cooperstown Dreams Park is about $1,700 per player but this team will conduct multiple fundraisers (such as the annual Hit-A-Thon, etc) to help offset the cost of going to Cooperstown Dreams Park. Many players can drastically reduce their cost for the tournament (or even go for free), if the family and player are properly committed to doing fundraising (especially if they utilize the Hit-A-Thon to ask family, friends, coworkers, etc to support them)!
We also hope to register the Cooperstown team into a couple of local tournaments before their Cooperstown trip (to provide them with some on-the-field experience). Going to Cooperstown Dreams Park is an experience that these players will never forget and potentially one of the best baseball experiences they will ever have!
From 2002 thru 2024, our Mountville team has an overall record of 93 wins & 74 loses at Cooperstown Dreams Park! Including winning the entire tournament in 2003...

About Cooperstown Dreams Park:
Cooperstown Dreams Park is located in Cooperstown NY (home of the Baseball Hall of Fame and the "birthplace" of baseball). Cooperstown Dreams Park provides a week long tournament experience with up to 104 teams per week from all across America (during a 14 week period of the summer). Teams play a minimum of 6 games (5 seeding games followed by a single elimination championship bracket) and multiple skills competitions. The facility has 22 lighted, real grass, enclosed baseball stadiums; plus 104 team clubhouses (in a baseball village), multiple concessions stands, retail store, etc on 165 acres in the mountains of central NY.
Accommodations:
Players will sleep in the baseball village (multiple coaches will be there at all times to supervise the players) and the village is fully secured. The village provides a dinning hall for all meals, locker rooms (bathrooms & showers), and medical facilities. The players will have a busy schedule with some additional downtime to have fun with the hundreds of other players in the village. Players will typically be released to their families at some point each day, to participate in the Cooperstown experience with their families as well (including 1 night that they will spend with their family at their private accommodations).
If your player is selected for this tournament team, you will need to secure private accommodations on the same week as our tournament (please double check the date above)…

Cost/Fundraising:
MYAA generously pays in advance for the tournament registration fee for each player prior to the players even trying out for the team.
After the team is officially announced, the participating team families will select different fundraising options that they will participate in for that current season (to help offset the cost), and every family will participate. All profits will go directly towards each player's tournament expenses. Any remaining balance that the player owes will be paid by the family in July, prior to the Cooperstown trip.
Additional Expenses Include: Private family accommodations, traveling, food, souvenirs, etc.
Details/Tips:
The families that participate on this tournament team will receive full details and tips from prior years as the tournament approaches (such as what to pack, parking, how to watch the games, how often you will get to spend time with your player, etc).
Pin Trading/Souvenirs:
Each year the team will design and purchase "pins" for the players to trade with other teams during the tournament. It is an awesome experience, here are more details:
